Tipping Point

A while back I was helping a band through some marketing challenges. Specifically we were creating some new print pieces.
In the course of the discussion, I told them that certain words were "hot" words. For instance, a few years back, some of the hot phrases flying around were "paradigm shift" and "________ driven" (fill in the blank with your choice of words--purpose, schedule, talent, passion, etc.).
Lately one of those is "tipping point" which has gained much popularity from the title of a best selling book. I here it's good, but I've never read it.
Lately I've been thinking about movement, energy, focus, direction and momentum for people and organizations.
When we have to tackle a challenge . . . it's often quite daunting. The idea of starting at the beginning of the task can be downright disheartening.
It may be an educational goal and the degree seems so far out there. Maybe it's the new quota at work. How will you ever hit those numbers? So you sit and strategize and create a plan and if that wasn't work enough, now you have to actually implement it.
U2's latest cd has a song on it entitled "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy" and I think the lyrics nail this dead on:
"It's not a hill but a mountain as you start out the climb."
Later in life you may reflect and realize it was more a hill than a mountain, but when it's in your face and you've got to trek ahead . . . pushing the boulder up the hill may push you beyond your previous limitations.
But, there's that moment . . . the tipping point. When finally all of the energy, sacrifice and work bring you to a point when everything shifts--the boulder starts rolling downhill.
Within moments, the unthinkable is happening and you're having to run to try to keep up because of the momentum that you've helped create!
If you're a follower of Jesus, be encouraged. You're never pushing alone. He's with us. In us. The Spirit within is the power that completely fuels.
And if you're tempted to think, God doesn't get what you're pushing against remember, not only did he create you and develop life, He's the master designer who created inertia, momentum and the tipping point . . . long before humanity decided it was "hot."
